Julie Spence

HI!!!! My name is Julie Spence; my husband Chris and I started the Fitz Boogie. Here is a little background about how the Boogie began. The Boogie initially started with parties at our house. After the party got too big, we decided to take it to an off dropzone airport. The Roaming DZ was officially born. The very first boogie was located in Perry GA in 2003. The very next year we moved to Dublin, GA in 2004. We stayed in Dublin for 3 years, took a year off in 2008 and then we moved the event to Fitzgerald, GA in 2009. The Fitz Boogie was officially born. Chris and I hosted this event for 24 years, Chris sadly passed away in 2023. I carried on the event in 2024 with the help of Thomas and Tonya Crowe and Trina Zomerz. This event will always hold a special place in my heart, because this was Chris’s dream and passion. The skydiving family is my Tribe! The skydivers are what makes this event special. Each of you brings something to the table in a unique way. You all create the Boogie vibe; without you this event wouldn’t happen. Chris always said, “the skydivers is what makes the boogie, I just put the wheels in motion for it to happen”. So, lets give Chris a big “him” and I can’t wait to see my Tribe in April for the 26^th annual Fitz Boogie!!!!!

I completed my first tandem jump at Fitz, where I fell in love with both skydiving and my husband. This boogie is incredibly special to me because of the community it attracts; it always feels like a massive family gathering.

Fitz will always have a special place in my heart as one of my early boogies. It's where friends come together before the season kicks into full gear to jump, laugh hard, share stories, and just enjoy being around our sky family. That energy is what makes Fitz unforgettable.
